An ode to the elegance

Rosa Clará chose Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week to unveil the brand's exclusive haute couture wedding gowns for next season. Barcelona's emblematic La Llotja de Mar venue provided the select backdrop for the dazzling Art Deco-inspired Rosa Clará Couture 2020 collection. The forty designs that make up the firm's most sumptuous bridal line exceeded all expectations, leaving the audience enthralled. The collection brings sophistication to bridal fashion, balancing elegance with contemporary styling to create something truly magical.

A unique venue

During Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2019, Rosa Clará draped La Llotja de Mar — a building whose neoclassical facade, majestic spaces and more than six centuries of history make it one of the Catalonian capital's architectural gems — in white and encouraged her guests to dream.

For today's bride: romance and sensuality

Deep yet discreet front and back V-necklines combined with sheer inserts decorated with guipure lace and macramé add extra sensuality to the Rosa Clará collection's most potently feminine outfits, conceived from start to finish for self-assured brides who've long dreamt of stepping up to the altar in an air of elegant allure.

The big new feature in this collection are Rosa Clará's opulent jumpsuits. Created for brides who know exactly what they want, they pair finely beaded bodices with flowing, diaphanous trousers to create an indisputably stylish look. Another new addition this year is the swan-neck halter, one of the most flattering and restrained necklines that shifts attention from the bride's bust to her shoulders.

Rosa Clará: modernity and femininity

What will Rosa Clará brides be wearing in 2020?

It's a collection with architectural lines; clean, pure and beautifully crafted. There's a strong Art Deco influence, with linear lace and microbeading. The necklines are sensual, and we bring in deeply flattering halter and swan-neck options. The skirts are full, but made extraordinarily light and comfortable to wear by weightless natural fabrics. Satin and silk brocade feature strongly, and we've got a selection of minimalist jumpsuits.

Are there trends in bridal fashion?

Of course there are! In fact, my obsession when I created the brand was, and remains, to make up-to-the-minute styling a major part of bridalwear.

What are brides who choose a Rosa Clará design looking for?

They're self-assured women who love fashion. They're extremely demanding when it comes to their dresses and know exactly what they want. They come for our designs and the quality of our fabrics. I want the women who wear my designs not only to look radiant, but also to feel comfortable and special in a perfectly fitting dress.

What inspires Rosa Clará apart from fashion?

We're inspired by what's happening in the world, by people, by nature, by art movements, to name just a few sources.

Is designing a wedding dress like designing a normal dress?

No, not at all. Wedding dresses are extremely complex. A normal dress might have 3–5 patterns; wedding dresses can have up to 140. In wedding dresses, it's not only the exterior that's important; the interior and structures are just as essential. Those structures include tulle, which is used in dress linings to create volume and produce the silhouette.

Why did you choose wedding gowns?

When I opened a multi-brand wedding dress boutique 24 years ago, I found that brides wanted gowns that reflected the latest fashions. That spurred me to start designing wedding dresses that fused contemporary styling with bridal tradition.

What does it mean to the brand to have won an Elle International Bridal Award?

It was a real honour to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from this prestigious magazine and I'd like to congratulate the organisers of Valmont Bridal Fashion Week for bringing the award ceremony to Barcelona.

What are the keys to the brand's growth in Spain and worldwide?

Constant hard work, persistence, working with a highly professional and motivated team and unveiling high-quality, clearly differentiated products year after year have been, without a shadow of a doubt, the keys to our success.
